ZX Spectrum emulators usually give you the ability to alter values in the machine's memory, while it's running. This can allow you to cheat at games by altering the program code to give yourself infinite lives, or immunity, etc. This is called 'poking' because the Spectrum BASIC command to alter memory was 'POKE'. You can download lists of pokes for games from the net, or you can download a POK file which stores several pokes for the same game. You can load the POK file into an emulator, and decide which effect you want, and the emulator will activate those pokes.

Basically, POKtastic is a little program to create and edit POK files!
